1. Prefolded Diapers

Prefolded diapers have more layers folded and sewn in the middle to create a thicker center. Pre-separation diapers are available in a variety of other fabrics, including bamboo and hemp, and in a variety of sizes. Prefolded diapers are relatively inexpensive and an affordable option. You also need to have a cloth diaper cover as a waterproof outer layer. The most popular covers mimic the shape of disposable trim, with a series of snaps or Velcro that wrap and close over baby's bottom in place of sticky tabs. They are usually made of poly melted fabric with a waterproof laminated interior and come in a variety of colors and prints.

2. Hybrid cloth diapers

Hybrid diapers are designed to combine the benefits of cloth with a waterproof layer. They consist of a waterproof outer shell and two inner absorbent layer options: a cloth insert or a disposable insert. Cloth inserts are made of a variety of fabrics, including cotton, microfiber, and/or hemp. They are sometimes filled with ultra-absorbent microfiber. Disposable inserts are the disposable version, and they're handy for on-the-go, but they take a little less waste from fully disposable diapers.

3. All-in-one cloth diapers

All-in-one diapers provide both an absorbent layer and a waterproof shell. You don't need to plug in, and the whole thing can be thrown in the washing machine when it gets dirty. They attach to the hips with Velcro or a series of snaps for easy on and off.

4. Pocket diapers

Pocket diapers are similar to all-in-one cloth diapers, but have built-in interior pockets, are made of wicking material, and contain removable absorbent inserts. You can customize the level of absorbency by trying different inserts or filling the pockets with two.
